Stephen is a New Zealand citizen and artist of some 27 years experience, originally from the UK he has now made Christchurch his home with his wife Sally, who he married some 31 years ago.

Stephen and Sally are animal lovers and have always kept dogs, they are keen trampers. Other interests include restoring old cars and motor cycles, sea kayaking (with their dog on board!), car club runs, involvement in art groups, and generally being part of the community.

Having studied the works of Rembrandt, Renoir and other well-known Masters, Stephen has built his own distinctive style.

Exhibitions in UK include: Hatfield House, a historic Royal palace near London. Blenheim Palace, home of the Duke of Marlborough - their gallery commissioned him for dozens of original works and sold Stephen’s prints. The Mall Galleries London, where Stephen was a prize winner of a major art competition. An exhibition in Miami, which then toured the U.S., was the furthest his work had travelled until coming to New Zealand.

Stephen had his own gallery in Dartmoor, Devon, before moving to New Zealand.

Bourton on the Water, the Cotswolds, Dartmoor, Ben Nevis and the Brecon Beacons were inspirational subjects.

Stephen’s limited edition prints have sold to all corners of the world.

Stephen’s work is already selling well in NZ too, with sales in Taranaki, Auckland and Christchurch to date.

New Zealand scenes demand large paintings, which fulfil Stephen’s need for a challenge and have already led to some very satisfying work. In New Zealand Stephen has been approached by TV ONE, also Flat White magazine did an article on his Devonport piece, the Waitemata Harbour. Stephen has been involved in two successful exhibitions in the Auckland Region. In Christchurch he has exhibited at Gallery O, The Arts Centre of Christchurch, in September 2006. The exhibition named Evolution was well received. It included some of the North Island works alongside the growing number of Canterbury scenes. Several more exhibitions are planned for the Canterbury Region. Stephen had a very successful exhibition, from his home based studio, in 2007 with the celebrating Selwyn guide.
